Food that hurts : Tyramine-rich food may trigger headaches.
According to Headache specialist Dr. Charles Siow said that up to 15 per cent of the migraine sufferers he sees report sensitivity to certain food. According to him, about 400,000 Singaporeans suffer from migraine. So if you are a migraine sufferers observed what you eat. If you get a migraine after sonsuming these foods, it's a sign that your body cannot cope with the food. The best thing to do is to avoid those foods. Keep a food dairy of what you eat and see which one your are sensitive to. Eliminate the food from your diet.
Food contains tyramine are likely to triggers headaches. It is typically found in preserved or aged food - is a compound known as an amine. Pickled and smoked food, miso, teriyaki sauce, MSG and cheeses.
Another migraine triggers incude tannins, found in alcohol, and caffeine-rich food such as tea, chocolate and coffee.
Sensitive food are:

  • peanuts and peanut butter


  • Caffeine products


  • Dairy products


  • certain beans such as broad beans, lima, lentil, soy, peas


  • Dried meats


  • Canned soups and packet soup mixes


  • Ripe banana


  • Soy products


  • Sodium nitrate, which is used to preserve hot dogs, bacon and cured meats


  • MSG


  • Aged cheeses such as cheddar


  • Red wine, beer, champagne


  • Chocolate


  • Anchovies
